Salute To Service - A1C Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris

It is our honor to celebrate the sacrifices of those who have served, serve and will serve to defend what this country stands for.

Each quarter, we will highlight great Americans and their actions to solidify the foundation of everything this country is built upon.

This quarter's pick is the man, the myth, the legend Airmen First Class Carlos Ray ‘Chuck’ Norris.

We have all seen the jokes, the memes, and the endless gifs, and my personal favorite is the Smoke Pit discussions about famous martial artists and action heroes and who would win in a fight. Generally, Chuck Norris is highly revered and beats them all.

Joining the Air Force as an Air Policeman in 1958 and was stationed at Osan Air Base, South Korea. There, he received the nickname Chuck, and that is also when and where his love of martial arts began, leading to multiple black belts in Tang Soo Do and the eventually his own form Chun Kuk Do (‘Universal Way’). He returned to the United States to March Air Force Base in California until his eventual discharge in 1962.

Thank you for your service and the countless hours of entertainment and inspiration in the sandbox, the mountains and in garrison.

There is no chin behind Chuck Norris's beard. There is only another fist.
