REGIMENT Sat Down with Starform CEO

REGIMENT is thrilled to welcome Metalstorm by Starform to the Games4Vets program — an initiative that connects veterans, service members, and supporters through gaming. Metalstorm isn’t just another combat game; it’s a high-energy, fast-paced aerial experience that captures the thrill of modern jet dogfighting while emphasizing teamwork, quick thinking, and precision — qualities that resonate deeply within the military community.

For Starform CEO Lou Fasulo, the inspiration for Metalstorm began with an ‘80s classic.

“I’m an ’80s kid, so yeah — Top Gun lit the fuse,” Fasulo said. “But the deeper spark was that dogfight feeling: the snap decision-making, the cat-and-mouse, the adrenaline when you time a perfect break. We wanted to bottle that energy and make it instantly accessible on phone, PC, or controller — no 45-minute checklists, just: launch, merge, outfox.”

That philosophy — authentic, not pedantic — drives the game’s design. Metalstorm blends believable aircraft performance and real combat cues with the kind of accessibility that keeps the action fluid and fun. It’s not about running simulations; it’s about capturing the essence of flight and making every dogfight feel earned.

The response from the veteran community has been overwhelming.

“We hoped the game would resonate, and we both had veterans on the team and in our closed beta,” Fasulo said. “But the depth of connection from the veteran community has been humbling. A lot of vets told us Metalstorm scratches the itch of teamwork, comms, and quick tactical problem-solving without demanding a multi-hour block.”

That feedback has shaped Starform’s roadmap — from improved squad tools and comms to new modes that reward disciplined, coordinated play. On the tech side, the team continues refining everything from flight feel and camera pacing to netcode and matchmaking, ensuring every battle feels fair and responsive.

Looking ahead, Starform is expanding Metalstorm with new maps, events, and a planned Steam release. Through its partnership with REGIMENT, the studio continues to champion connection, camaraderie, and community — all through the shared language of gaming.

Strap in, throttle up, and join the fight — Metalstorm is now available through REGIMENT’s Games4Vets program.
