Getting to Know OPS Director Purpski

Getting to Know OPS Director Purpski

I wish I was as personable as our Ops Director. It’s probably why when I asked who needed to be put in the spotlight in appreciation of everything they do for us, the name “Purpski”  came out of multiple mouths simultaneously.

Purpski knew Chris (aka Entxurage) from her time in the United States Marine Corps. His calls to join a Discord server for veterans finally hit home, and she joined when there were around 1000 members.

When they asked for help with handling new applications, she volunteered to help and became a Community Director. She handled the stream team before it was called the stream team and dealt with bans and unban requests, as well as dealing with the inevitable squabbles and drama that can come with an organization the size of Regiment.

When her first child was on the way, she stepped down, focusing on her family.

Upon her return, her good working relationship with RG’s leadership team found her back in a leadership role, this time in Operations. When asked what her role entails, she put it  about as plainly as a thing can be put:

“I just try to make things run smoothly.”

She still helps in any way she can, making the server as welcoming and well-maintained as possible. She plans events centered around conventions, too. She’s currently working behind the scenes making plans for the After Party at TwitchCon.

With an organization our size, with this many members, it must be hard to make anything run smoothly. I then put a ball on a tee for her to hit out of the park. I asked, “How do you do  it?” I expected her to talk about the traits that make her good at what she does. I expected her to talk about how much hard work she does. She would have been right to do it.

You know what she said?

“I have trust in my team.”

She mentioned Fred, Oakley, and the rest of RG’s leadership. She talked about how helpful an environment this place can be. “I know that if it is something I can’t handle, there’s  someone on this team who can finish it.”

Thanks, Purpski. Thanks for being a moderator in arguments, a planner of events, and an irreplaceable piece to the Regiment puzzle. For everything you do.

And for doing it with humility.
