There are some faces that appear on the screen can make us laugh without hearing a word. This is due to a body of work that makes us trust the inevitable comedy gold about to spill out of their mouths. The amount of preparation and hard work that must go in to being a comedic actor in the movie business with any career longevity has to be staggering. It makes you respect the ones that get to keep telling the jokes, when everywhere you turn there’s six people with jokes locked and loaded.
As veterans, we are fully aware of hard work and preparation. We see the essential nature of these values. Which is why you can go ahead and prematurely laugh when Rob Riggle enters the frame.
Lieutenant Colonel Riggle has shown his face in film and television for more than 15 years, with too many roles to mention. But we write this article because of his 23 years in the United States Marine Corps, nine of which were spent in active duty. With deployments to Liberia, Kosovo, Albania and Afghanistan.
Along with his service, during which time he accumulated more than 21 medals and ribbons, we at Regiment would like to salute him for his ability put pride aside and do what it takes to get the laugh.
Never seen an actor do that? Watch Rob in The Goods. You’ll either thank me or ask me to reimburse you for your therapist bill later.
